For over a century, the American-based company Lodge has been meticulously refining its construction of rugged, cast-iron cookware. Now, the company has introduced a new line of seasoned steel skillets. This convenient 10-inch seasoned steel skillet is the only pre-seasoned and ready-to-use steel pan currently available on the market.

Each skillet is pre-seasoned with natural soy bean oil, allowing it to maintain both very low and very high temperatures, making it a highly effective and versatile cooking tool. It performs exceptionally well in both residential and professional kitchens, as well as in outdoor settings. Crafted from 12-gauge carbon steel, this material is a high-density metal that does not retain odors. With proper care, it will last a lifetime.

The thickness of the cooking surface allows the pan to heat up quickly, while also retaining the heat needed for even cooking. The handle angle is designed for both stovetop and oven use, and each handle is securely attached to the skillet with three rivets.

As a result of the pre-seasoning process, you may notice a small blister or bubble of oil at the southern-most point or at the end of the handle. This is a normal occurrence, as the cookware is hung and passes through high-temperature electrostatic sprayers and commercial conveyor ovens, allowing the oil to deeply penetrate the pores of the cookware, creating an easy-release finish. If visible, this oil can be rubbed or flaked off with your finger, leaving a brown spot – not rust, but rather a seasoned spot indicative of the varnish stage of seasoning, which will turn black with use.
